Never pay to check a status
Reading a collection list is free — here and everywhere else. Anyone charging for it is scamming you.

No one can “speed up” your passport
People selling faster processing on social media take the money and disappear. Only the official urgent service at ICS is real.

Use ethiopianpassportservices.gov.et. Fake application sites steal fees and personal documents.

How do I find my application number?
It is printed on the receipt you were given when you applied. Current numbers look like
BRPP5260094321P — four letters, ten characters, then a final P. Older receipts from 2023 and early 2024 use a shorter form such as A08718871. Both work here.
Can I search by name instead of the number?
Yes. Enter your first and father’s name and every matching record is listed so you can pick out your own. With an application number, adding your name is optional — it simply confirms the record is yours.
My passport is not found. What does that mean?
Most often it simply has not appeared on a published list yet. Offices publish every few days. It can also mean the number or name was mistyped. Check the date of the most recently processed list at the bottom of the home page before assuming your passport is not ready.
Is this an official government service?
No. This is an independent tool that reads the collection lists the Immigration and Citizenship Service publishes publicly. Always confirm with your branch office before travelling to collect.
Do you show names or personal details?
A result shows collection status, the office, the list period and a partially masked application number. A name search also shows the names printed on the matching records, so you can tell them apart. Results are excluded from search engines.
How current is the data?
New lists are picked up automatically within minutes of being published. The date of the most recent processed list is always shown on the home page so you can judge for yourself whether a “not found” result is meaningful.
What is the difference between “List date” and “Posted”?
List date is the date recorded on the collection list and shows how long the passport has been waiting. Posted is when the office published that list. They are often the same date, but they can differ.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. There is no account, no payment and no advertising.
How do I get a new Ethiopian passport or renew an old one?
Applications and renewals go through the official Immigration and Citizenship Service portal: you register online, book an appointment at a branch office for fingerprints and a photo, pay the fee and keep the receipt with your application number. See the step-by-step application and renewal guide.
